No matter how long or short my drive is, I am always listening to one of two things: NPR or podcasts. My husband and I are big podcast-philes and are always on the hunt for ones to add to our streaming list. Naturally, podcasts related to books are a huge hit with me (and him) and I thought it would be nice to share my favorites.
*For the record, I have an iPhone and so I use the preloaded podcast app. If you have an Android phone (and I did for several years), my favorite podcast streaming app overall is Player FM. It's super easy to search for a podcast you like, categorize it however you wish, and, unlike some annoying apps offered for Android, it pauses on your phone when you turn your car off. Yay!

Literary Disco is a podcast where one of the hosts is THE Rider Strong of Boy Meets World fame (swoon!). I talk like that's the best thing about it...but it isn't! The best thing is that in this podcast you'll find humor, in-depth conversations, and lively debates. The hosts are all readers, as well as writers, so there is a neat point of view. You'll find some deep thinking into all different kinds of literature--essays, nonfiction, poetry, etc! Sometimes they reeeally get into a debate and I love hearing fellow readers get passionate about things they love (or hate).
This podcast brought to the world by the New York Public Library features a lot of snark and laughs, as well as a healthy variety of topics. Some episodes center around a particular book (in which case, be prepared for some spoilers), while others are more general in their scope. Their episode on "Never Let Me Go" may have spilled a few beans, but the way they discussed the book STILL made me want to go right out and buy a copy (which I did).
Reading glasses is an easy podcast to binge because the episodes are short but always filled with a lot of interesting content. Hosted by two dames with a sense of humor and a real passion for reading, this podcast features what each host is currently reading, an interview with a special guest, a review of some book-related novelty, and answers to listener questions. I can't get enough of Mallory and Brea!
The one that started my entire spiral into book-casts. Anne Bogel, also known as Modern Mrs. Darcy, has such a soothing voice, I could listen to her for hours. And I have. I've listened to practically every episode she's put out because I just can't enough of the book recommendations! The premise of the podcasts is thus: a guest comes on the show and tells Anne three books they love, one book they hate, and what they're reading lately. Anne then gives the guest three recommendations (though it often ends up being more just because of the bookish discussion that flows!). The guests run the gamit from bookshop owners to authors to just people who love to read. My TBR list has been growing steadily since I've started listening to this podcast.
Do YOU have any bookish podcasts that I haven't mentioned here? If so, why are you holding out on me?! SHARE! I can always use more to listen to on my commute!
